The Comfy Sweater

Maroon sweater- St. John’s Bay (via Goodwill) ~$4
Long sleeve grey top- Old Navy ~$7
Black leggings- Walmart ~$7
Sunglasses- Wet Seal ~$3
Gold link necklace- Thrifted (via Salvation Army) ~$8
Ugg boots (gift)
TOTAL COST: $29

A few weeks ago, the most chic blogger of all my daily reads, Atlantic Pacific, posted herself wearing a “fisherman sweater.” At my next GW shopping trip, I came across this chunky knit piece and snapped it up immediately. It’s so comfy, I have worn it a handful of times in the last month, which is rare for me- I like to give even time to all my pieces. This was a relaxing weekend look, so I paired the thick sweater with leggings to balance it out. I’ll definitely be rocking this sweater again soon with skinny jeans.
The minute I reviewed the pictures for this post, I realized how silly my UGGs look with my toothpick legs- Oops. Perhaps the “tall” variety wouldn’t be so strange? Regardless, they are the most comfortable shoes I own, so on a day when comfort was important, I wasn’t super concerned with what my feet looked like.

Perfect Fit

Maroon long sleeve top- J Jill (via Goodwill) ~$3.50
Fair Isle Cardigan- St. John’s Bay ~$7 (on sale)
Wide leg jeans- Gap (via Goodwill) ~$6
Deer antler necklace- gift (similar items available on ebay and etsy)
Chestnut boots- UGGs (gift)
TOTAL COST: $16.50

I love to be warm and as a result, I own many cardigans. This one I snagged on mega clearance last season. It’s large enough that I can easily wear it over long sleeves which is great as the weather here goes form cool to cold. I generally don’t like hoods on things other than hooded sweatshirts or a coat, but I made an exception for this one because it was such a great deal.
As I’ve mentioned before, I’m not really a big jeans wearer. I have a few pairs of skinny jeans that I really like, and I tend to stick with those. This pair, while not my favorite silhouette, is a high quality pair in a great wash that I snagged for a fraction of the retail cost. Additionally, I, like many women, struggle with an appropriate fit in pants, especially jeans. Something I love about shopping second hand is that because most clothes have been preowned, they are prewashed. These jeans are not going to shrink- the size they were when I bought them is the size they are now, years later. Which is more than I can say for jeans you buy new in store!

Fall for UGGs

Tan sweater dress- Chadwicks (Salvation Army) ~$3
Navy Leggings- via Gabriel Brothers ~$4
Red and white scarf- Vintage (from mom)
Chestnut boots- UGG (gift, retails for $155)
TOTAL COST: $7

I may have jumped the gun a little bit on wearing a sweater dress but it was cool in the morning and my church is notoriously chilly (to me). Also, this is the first time of the season that I’m wearing my UGG boots. I hated UGGs for a long time in high school, and I realized it was because I had never tried them and didn’t own a pair. “FUGGs” are NOT equivalent, regardless of the price. If you are interested in a boot of this style, go for the UGG. I have had mine for at least 4-5 years and they are in great condition. I treat them every year with water proofing spray and avoid wearing them when it’s raining (if possible). They are still fluffy inside and so cozy. As a person who is notoriously cold, they are perfect for me. I realize that for a blog that emphasizes good deals, UGGs seem like a bag choice. However, this is simply an item your are not going to come across in a thrift store. I have NEVER seen a pair in any color or size. I HAVE seen them in stores like Marshall’s or TJ Maxx at reduced prices. Another piece of fall weather wear that I love are leggings. Leggings in all colors and styles. I cannot wait to break out the rest of my leggings and boots.
