Jump Back

Periwinkle top- Banana Republic (via Junior League) ~$ .10
Navy and white pin stripe shorts- Gap ~$20
Gold strand necklaces- Consignment ~$6 (for 2)
White and leather belt- Vintage (from mom)
Black gladiator sandals- Ruff Hewn ~$13 (on sale)
TOTAL COST: $39.10

It’s September. That means that warm or even hot days should be appreciated. I always have to remind myself not to rush into my fall wardrobe too soon because by November, I’ll be a little tired of it. Today was hot, so I jumped back into shorts and a tank. This top was purchased at my Dollar Dash jaunt at the local Junior League- Banana Republic? for around TEN CENTS? Yeah, I was pleased. It’s a great color that refused to photograph accurately, so I apologize. I always struggle to style these shorts (they are a very thin navy and white pin stripe), so I end up ignoring them most of the summer. They’re great quality- produced by Gap, so I know they’ll last me. I normally don’t to blues with blacks, but I love these sandals so much I’m wearing them as much as possible. In the fall, I try to stay away from sandals because my toes get cold easily (and I miss my UGG boots).

Chic Shift

Tan shift dress- NY & Co (via Salvation Army) $3
Pink flower- Handmade (a gift J )
Green velvet skinny belt- Target (via Goodwill) ~$1
Black gladiator sandals- Ruff Hewn ~$13

TOTAL COST: $17

It’s been very hot recently, so I’ve been making an attempt to wear some summer clothes before it’s time to pack them up. I recently picked up this dress at Salvation Army and I love it.
I will wear it belted or unbelted. Casual or dressy. I wish it were a bit longer because as is, I can only wear this in certain settings.
Let's briefly talk about hem lines. I know I've mentioned before that I have quite lanky arms and often shorts don't meet the "finger tip" rule of appropriateness and modesty. However, now that I am a University student, I am less concerned about these rules (somewhat) but only when it comes to shorts. You see, if I were wearing shorts the same length as this dress, I could bend over, squat down, sit cross-legged, etc but I certainly cannot do this in this dress. I am quite particular about the hem lines of dresses and skirts because with long legs, trust me, they are going to appear even shorter. In store, I would never buy this dress, but for around $3 at SalVal, it's kinda like- why not?

The previous owner had it altered to make it slimmer under the arms and it wouldn’t fit me this well if it hadn’t been taken in. Another point for thrift shopping! These shoes are an excellent match styleistically with the dress.

Snag of the Season (& 50th Post!)

White ¾ gauzy top- Hollister Co. ~$20
Purple tank top- H&M ~$7
Pink chino shorts- Tommy Hilfiger Outlet ~$25
Gold and pearl strand necklace- Consignment ~$3
White and gold skinny belt- Goodwill (no brand) ~$2
Black gladiators- Ruff Hewn (via BonTon) ~$13
TOTAL COST: $70

For a blog that is about thrifting and saving money, this outfit is looking kind of expensive. However, it was a put together look and I decided to document it. You see, I haven’t been so into thrifting my whole life. My focus has really expanded in the past 3 years and both the top and bottom of this outfit are more than 3 years old. The true sales high light of this outfit are my new sandals. You know those $5 silver gladiators I’ve been wearing all summer? They’re still alive (no need to worry) but the quality isn’t great and I’m just not sure how much longer they are going to make it. Enter these shoes. BonTon is having a huge sale and I hunt down these babies, originally $89- What a snag! They are comfortable and stylish. I LOVE those tassel details! I know I only have a few months to bond with them before they go into fall/winter hibernation, but until then- they will be my go-to shoe!
